If you're going to NYC, some of us may be able to hook up with you too :)
Probably the largest used bookstore in the city is The Strand, on Broadway
and 12th. It's almost too big -- you can get lost in there and the books
are everywhere. Once you're finished in the Strand, if you walk down 12th
street heading west there's another nice used bookstore (maybe two blocks
down) on the right, down in a basement. Just keep your eye open for a
sign. It's just past a movie theater on the left.
There's also a Mexican restaurant on 12th between the Strand and that other
used bookstore. It looks like they serve dog meat there, but the food is
good (best quality dog) and the prices aren't bad. There's a wonderful
Italian restaurant diagonally across the street from the Strand -- Fabulous
desserts -- but it's pretty expensive. You ask for water and they give it
to you in bottles imported from Italy.
The Village is always fun :). The Museums of Natural History and Modern
Art (on opposite sides of Central Park) are always fun. The Cloisters are
WONDERFUL -- that's a kinda medieval extension of the Museum of Modern Art
way uptown.
