All Scottie's post indicated was that he hasn't really been listening,
nor is capable of listening, to different viewpoints about this
particular topic.
Just the usual ad hominem that I've come to expect, the usual grand
generalization about the motives guiding thousands of professionals in a
field, the usual BS under the guise of respect for creative intelligence.
But it's not inconsistent with the rather surprising observation I made
many years ago as I began talking to more and more good writers: good
writers aren't always good readers.
