Actually, in this case it didn't take only as long as it did to read your
post, but only because some young trainees in our office recently made a
poster of this very quote. Otherwise, I don't think I would have placed it
to as Steinbeck's Travels with Charley, of which I have fond memories.

Ah the time when he said he lived in Westport with his dog? I would say,
with an almost straight face, that it is a highly relevant detail.
