Alright, you got me (on Stanley's behalf). You'd probably hate Fish if
you read his literary theory. It's all about the reader creating the
text and so forth. He's one of the fathers of Reader Response theory
and published an article in last July's issue of _Harper's Magazine_
about how great postmodernism and relativism is. So the article sounds
inconsistent with some of his literary theory but consistent with some
of his criticism. He is (or at least has been) a pretty important
figure in US academia.

Fish has the wonderful quality of writing exactly what he's thinking at
the moment without regard for its consistency with anything he's ever
said in the past.
