I thought I signed up for the Salinger list. If you wish to carry on this
discussion, please append something relating to Salinger to your comments.
Or please start another list, there seems to be plenty of interest.
Obligitory JDS: When I read the Glass stories I never picked up on the
Jewishness of the characters. It wasn't until I read Ian Hamilton's
Biography that I realized JDS was jewish, and so were the Glasses. I
re-read things and still it doesn't stand out. However, my Jewish friend
claims that he couldn't believe how jewish the whole Glass family is.
Even the mother, who is Irish Catholic or something is extremely Jewish
he says.
Did anyone else have strong reactions to the Jewishness of the Salinger
characters?
