Thanks for this. I haven't read Brothers K. I think I will add it to my
reading list, quite possibly close to the top.

Incidentally, even Babe in one of the stories (perhaps Last Furlough?)
chooses to spend part of a day with Father Zossima and Alyosha.

I have just got to locate some of these early stories and READ them. I'm a
real fan of pre-53 Salinger.
