Keep in mind that Updike wrote a lot of reviews...when I interviewed him
in l998, he said Salinger was one of his few influences...I'm not usre why
F&Z got some tough reviews (read Leslie Fiedler's sometime) but i'll bet
Updike is surprised at how well the writing holds up, will
