I think we are only required to go to school until the age of 16 which
generally means the middle of High School, but to get a High School diploma,
as the vast majority of American students do, it usually takes another two
years. To be more trivial, I'd say many people take two years for an
associates degree, or four for a bachelors. Advanced Placement classes are
classes which give one or two college credits which are accepted by most, but
certainly not all colleges towards a degree. Most children now attend a year
of pre-school. That is a year of mostly wasted, I think, time in which they
learn to interact with other kids and play together. Something which should
probably have been done a bit earlier if it hasn't been done.
Salinger's only college courses were a few creative writing classes at
Columbia, is that right?
Though nothing exceptionally bad, I think there's a few grammarical
errors here, and in other posts that bananafishers complain about, so could
someone please reccomend a useful book.
