Oh, and by the way, what's "AP"? >>
Advanced Placement. High school kids in the states on an AP track take
college level courses while still in High School. That's the most advanced
course of instruction a HS student can take.
Our children go through school in this order (these are approximations that
vary from area to area):
Elementary school -- kindergarten through 6th grade (you are usually in 6th
when you're 11 or 12 or so).
Middle or Junior High School -- 7th and 8th grades (12-14 years old).
High School -- 9th through 12th grades. You're usually 17 when you graduate
HS. This amount of education is required of all US citizens. After this you
can voluntarily go to a 2 or 4 year college.
