I agree with you...the question doesn't make much of a
difference because her stories have the potential to
be novels, or they're on that road. And you're
correct, she claims that she will not write a novel.
I find it interesting that reviews of Lives of Girls
and Women claim that it is a novel, yet she would not
agree. If I remember correctly, I think her
collection The Beggars Maid contains connected stories
as well.
