Will,

Cynthia Voigt's novels are about high school age kids, although not
primarily based around high school. Same goes for Robert Cormier. So,
try:

C. Voigt: Dicey's Song, A Solitary Blue
R. Cormier: The Chocolate War, After the Chocolate War

These are intended for high school age kid, but they are really good
and so not tedious for adult readers. Your best bet if you want high
school novels is to look in the teenage section of your local library.
There will be lots.

Hope this helps.

Love, Lucy-Ruth
