As an atheist, also, I feel I must add something to Robbie's post. I have no
religion because I feel it is not necessary. I wasn't brought up that way; my
father, actually, believes in reincarnation, my mother forced Christianity
down my throat since I was a toddler and my stepmother is a Christian also.
My stepmother and father have been married for almost ten years now, and
never have conflicts about religion. We do not attend church. Our family
simply does not ever have a controversial religious discussion- ever. There
really isn't a need for it.

I couldn't agree more. Just because you have a religion does not mean that
you are moral. I am not saying that all theists are immoral, or that atheists
are more moral than theists. I am just stating that religious beliefs do not
always equal ethics. I think that the Ten Commandments present very good
morals, however. Who doesn't agree with 'Thou shalt not murder'? However, I
do not need religion to follow that basis of morals.
