. I've recently been poring over Eberhard Alsen's _Salinger's Glass Stories as a Composite Novel_. It's the first criticism that I've seen that has not immediately dismissed Hapworth out of hand. Alsen addresses my favorite perspective: the individual story v. the stories as a composite whole. He calls Hapworth Buddy's "loot" and does a fine job defending that argument.
Warren French's opinions notwithstanding.
