In my opinion, no one, not even dear Kurt, is or ever was a genius. The idea
of genius has us misattributing beautiful, fascinating work to some
supernatural quality in someone's brain and overlooking the influence of
circumstance, luck, collaboration, and just plain old human cleverness.
Genius elevates humans into gods. It implies worship. It is a myth.
Whenever someone I respect/admire is referred to as a genius, I wince.
