Subject: nihil nisi bonum

Over the past few days, despite my best attempts
at self-defence, I've been exposed to a more or less
continuous loop of John Lennon's Imagination.
Those lyrics - even more mournful & banal than
his usual efforts - about love, areligious simplicity
& abnegation are in almost grotesque opposition
to the facts of the man's life; where commercialised
mysticism, abandonment of wife & child & withdrawal
into druggy self-abuse in the most exclusive apartment
block in NY featured so vividly.
De mortuis & all that. But didn't Chapman, waving
his Anti-Phoney bible, have a point?
