I've always assumed Rilke...Salinger personally liked him a great deal, and
mentions him several other times (In S:AI, I think, and I believe as a wall
quote in "Zooey" as well...I could check if anyone wants to know)
Not to mention that the descriptions of Seymours stuff seems very very similar
to the stuff that Rilke actually did, it seemed to me like a Rilke and Issa (A
Haiku Writer) combination.
