I lived in Georgia for about a year and a half when I was seven
and eight.  I lived in Dekalb County, I think, if that means anything
to you.  I don't remember much; mostly my school (Kingsley Elementary) 
and the high school my brother went to (Peachtree), 
and of course I remember the laser show at Stone Mountain...
But that was back in like 1983.   Is it still around, do you know?

They're mostly sunny childhood memories, but occassionally I 
wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, remembering
the applause at the end of the laser show when the engraved
Confederate Generals are animated and ride off the edge of the
mountain--and the psychotic applause this generated.  I also 
occassionally lapse into terrifying flashbacks of  the Musak version 
of"I Wish I Were In Dixie", which could be heard from miles around,
emanating from a tinny speaker in the Stone Mountain gift shop,
where they sold Confederate Flags and soldiers's hats.

I shiver just to recall...
