Subject: "Holden's New York" in NY Times

There's a huge article in today's New York Times to mark the 50th
anniversary of the book's publication. It follows an older NYT
article in following in Holden's footsteps in Manhattan. It's very
funny and very good.
You can read it by going to the Times web site. Membership is
required, but is free. The URL for the article is:
http://www.nytimes.com/2001/07/22/nyregion/22FEAT.html?searchpv=nytToday
(That's all one long line.)
Interestingly, they mention in the paper that the author of the article
is the co-editor of an anthology that's slated to come out in October,
according to amazon.com. (The article says it will be in September.)
The book is WITH LOVE AND SQUALOR: FOURTEEN WRITERS RESPOND TO THE WORK
OF J.D. SALINGER. Regrettably, the blurb doesn't say who the fourteen
writers are, and a trip to the amazon.com web site shows only a skeleton
entry for the book, with no details yet.
I've tried to grab some information from the Broadway Books web site
(www.randomhouse.com/broadway), but there's no response from any of
the Random House web servers.
[Conjecture: there is a nasty Internet worm making the rounds that is
decimating web servers that run on Windows systems; thousands of sites
have been hit, and many are off the air this weekend as a result, and
perhaps this accounts for why no Random House sites answer today.]
Anyhow, have a look at the NYT article, and when the Random House web
sites are back in action, perhaps I'll be able to shed more light on
this project.
