It has to be one of the most interesting books I've read in years - what a life Burroughs has had! He also gives some hope to us lazy wouldbe writers (he didn't really get into writing until his mid 30s) To be honest I find his life more interesting than his novels (but I did like Junky and Queer) Burrough's relationship with Paul Bowles lead me on to Bowles' Sheltering Sky which is a fine novel (don't let the movie of the same name put you off reading it).
