A small bit of news. The list archive is current as of the morning postings today, July 19. You can reach the main archive page at: http://www.nyu.edu/acf/staff/oconnort/JDS There are now three basic choices: browse the archives, running from June, 1997 to the present; search by keyword, current as of the most recent indexing (two or three days ago); and enjoy an "unpretentious bouquet of early-blooming parentheses." Intellectual-property enthusiasts and copyright fans should note that the last item in that list above is not a reproduction of Salinger's text, but is a reasonable facsimile of a portion of it, as the punctuation appeared in Seymour: An Introduction. Literary enthusiasts will note that there is nothing parenthetical about the bouquet at all. Punctuation enthusiasts will rejoice at the delicate balance achieved, with the enigmatic closing mark, which symbolizes a dot. Parodists will dismiss this entire paragraph, and no wonder. Cheers! --tim o'connor
