Perhaps *you* were bringing a trace of Glassness to Brisbane.
And one final note in my own mystery accent: Now that we know Les is from
Australia, and Bessie is from Dublin, JDS's statement on the dust jacket of
"F&Z" makes a bit more sense: "Both stories are early, critical entries in
a narrative series I'm doing about a family of *settlers* [emphasis added]
in twentieth-century New York, the Glasses."
