Today is Wednesday, 14 July 1999; on this day,

51 years ago (1948),

 After a year and a half of silence, _The New Yorker_ publishes J.
     D. Salinger's intriguing short story of infidelity and
     self-deception, "Pretty Mouth and Green My Eyes."

This is a daily mailer I subscribe to. Thought someone might care to know.
Have included a link to the subscription area as well. Some nice things to
be reminded of and I have found room for reason to celebrate on some
seemingly simple Sunday afternoon. (And let us not forget Wednesday.)
