>Yeah, I appreciate the sentiments expressed, Elizabeth. The only thing >I'll say is that I'll handle it any way anyone wants -- off list or on. >I've read pretty much every message this list has put out from the start >and have never (and I mean, Not Once) complained about off topic posts >myself, so I don't feel too many qualms about this particular thread >being on the list. It wasn't really even a complaint, just an idea. As I said before, I am enjoying the thread, and even have some thoughts and questions about it. I just didn't know if I should add the discussion if it was getting on other people's nerves. The suggestion was more for the benefit of others on the list. Wouldn't want to wear out our welcome and all that. So, since nobody seems to have a problem with the topic, no biggie. Nevermind. Just a thought. >Really, my experience has been that people who complain about off topic >posts (obviously you are an >exception because you're so recently back on >the list) have no problems posting off topic themselves, >which means >their complaints are nothing more than, well, selfish :) I'm sure at some point i'll go off on some tangent that gets long winded - I wouldn't neccessarily see myself an exception to that. But if got old to everyone and only a couple of people were responding to my posts i'd happy to make it personal. I went back to archives to see how long the conversation had been going before i wrote anything, but June isn't up yet. Oh well. Doesn't matter. I suppose if someone has other ideas to bring up, the current thread won't stop them. >But, like I said, I'm willing to handle it any way anyone wants. Well, Jim, looks like nobody really cares where it is, so we should feel free to continue. I have only recently been studying prophecy in any depth, so my thoughts and questions certainly do not come from a scholarly perspective. With respect to the Book of Revelations, I have read an interesting theory about some of the symbolism contained in it. In Robert F. Riggs's book Apocalypse Unsealed, he discusses a theory mainly taken from ASTRONOMY by Dr. Arthur M. Harding. This theory holds that many of the "beasts" of the apocalypse are refernces to zodiac symbols. It has nothing to do with modern astrology, but instead with the zodiac as it was used at the time of the Bible, as a time keeper. The parade of symbols across the sky correlate roughly with a year, but as enough time passes, the symbols which coincide with a particular month change. The solstices and equinoxes were refered to as the four pillars or corners of the sky. These shifts take approximately two thousand years, and the symbols "reigning" at the solstices and equinoxes define periods in time. To make a long story short, the reigning beasts refer to periods in time, before and after Christ's lifetime. Has anyone else heard this theory? I have not been able to find any other references to it so far. Riggs discussed many other ways that the zodiac symbols were significant, but i'm still trying to wrap my brain around some of his logic. Interested in any thoughts on the subject. Elizabeth
