There is definitely something missing from this piece when compared to his other stories." I'll agree that it wasn't Salinger's most well-developed story. I think Salinger get's it right the second time around in _For Esme With Love and Squalor_, which was published in 9 Short Stories (it's not in that set you downloaded). By the way, I've admittedly been a little harsh in this discussion. It's just that I hate seeing any work of art unfairly panned. -Sean
