Sarah: "Despite the opposition, I am going to have to cast my vote for the pronunciation similar to "Zoe". This is how I first pronounced it and how I will probably do forever. One of my friends tried to start a debate whether or not it was "Zoo-ey" or "Zoe", but it is truly up to the perception of the reader." I, too, used to advocate "Zoe" over "Zooey", mainly because the former pronunciation just sounds better. Over time, however, it grew more and more difficult for me to deny that recalcitrant, conspicuous, scale-tipping second "o". The rationalist in me eventually caved in. May you have better luck with this cause than I. -Sean
