FYI: The title of the book that is set in Japan is RANSOM.  Don't know the
other McInerney book Paul mentioned.

I agree with Paul about IRON AND SILK.  But the author's name is Mark
Salzman.  Mark Singer wrote CITIZEN K, which was dreadful.  But the stuff
he writes for The New Yorker is wonderful.
