Cheers, Renee! (...and if we're getting into the topic of good books by
American authors about Japan, can I also recommend THE LADY AND THE MONK by
Pico Iyer....)

...and as for

IRON AND SILK. But the author's name is Mark
>Salzman.

How right you are again, which now makes me doubt the title of the book by
Pico Iyer too, although I am almost certain about the author's name in this
case.... (The brain cells do tend to deteriorate with time!)
Salzman apparently turned it into an atrocious movie, in which he had the
audacity to play the leading role--which would be a bit like JDS trying to
act the role of Holden.... Yuck!)

OK, fishes, here's the big question: (But first, a confession--I haven't
read FRANNY & ZOOEY since I was sixteen, which was sometime around the
opening battle of the Punic Wars.... At the time, I preferred it to
Catcher.) Should I risk reading it again?

Cheers,

Paul
