I thumbed through the Alexander biography the other day. Having read (and almost memorized, long ago) the Hamilton biography, Alexander seems to be borrowing heavily from this earlier text--or at least, he is using exactly the same sources Hamilton used. I didn't find anything that looked like a new insight.
