Will! I'm beginning to wonder about your apparently failing judgement. First, the bozos from the Bronx zoo. And now: ...the truth is that good writing is never done... Oh my god. Where to begin? I'm going to forgive you because you did say "good" writing, and not "great" writing. But I have to say that there are more great poems, and stories, and novels, and essays that are so perfect that I'd almost justify killing any culprit who tried to change them. (I'm not sure that sentence scans, but I'll wait for Scottie to jump down my throat and correct me...) I mean, shouldn't it be a capital offence for anyone to suggest even moving a comma in a Shakespearean sonnet? ....and then there's FOR ESME..... I rest my case. In fact, I rest both my cases (concerning the Yankees, AND concerning endless editing)...... (but as Exhibit "A" on case #2, check out a story called "Le Chef d'Oeuvre Inconnu" by Balzac) --Paul
