The English Patient was a wonderful movie, in my opinion.

You've just got to be impressed with a critic like Scottie, who can so
forcefully pan a movie and in the same breath confess to having only several
minutes of it. Scottie, what did you think of "Eyes Wide Shut", the new
Kubrick film coming out this summer?

'...Coming off of the English Patient, which I am still
not able to remove from my frontal lobe and almost
    every waking thought...'

I'm never sure quite with the Pierrot when the kissing
stops & the joking starts. But I PRESUME the above
grotesque statement arises from his jocular mode.
(A presumption reinforced by the reference to Fiennes,
an alumnus of my old school & about as Australian as myself.)

As a matter of interest, did any other Bananafish manage
to sit through the entirety of that unending, arse-achingly
pretentious desert of fatuity? Despite a rigorous search through
friends, family, acquaintances & patients I've been unable to find
anyone who did not slink, stalk or stride out of the cinema after
the thirtieth or so minute. I myself left considerably earlier.
