Camille -- I sent information right along these lines to the writer's group we're in about three weeks ago, in some detail...if you didn't get it, let me know and I'll resend it to you. The BEST thing for ANY writer to do is pick up a copy of the 1999 Writer's Market. It provides extensive listings for publications along with sections describing manuscript formatting, etc. And the listings for the individual magazines have manuscript format requests included in the listing if they are different from the standard double-spaced, name/address/phone number in the upper left hand corner, word count and rights being offered in the upper right, etc. The MOST IMPORTANT thing for writers submitting to American markets to remember if they don't live in the States is to use IRC coupons (International Reply Coupons, I think they're called) on any self addressed stamped envelopes (SASE). People from America submitting to foreign markets (most commonly Canadian) tend to forget this and put US stamps on their correspondence....and that just don't work :) Good luck getting published, Camille, you should be. (and I'm willing to be your agent for as little as 10%. Too bad you're not black) haha Jim "The written word is a power of such magnitude that only pedants would try to reduce it to rules.
