Is Seymour a Pedophile?

In a recent conversation with a girlfriend, we discussed "A Perfect Day for
Bananafish."  In this discussion, she brought up the fact that she thought
that Seymour was a pedophile.  She drew this conclusion by the way he handles
the little girl: stroking her ankles, etc...  His actions, while floating in
the ocean, had always struck me as odd, but I never got the impression that he
was getting off on it.  I am simply raising this question to you guys to get
your opinion.  So, in your eyes, is Seymour a pedophile?
