Perhaps a better take on that is Anyone who holds media responsible for his actions is a fool. I think the problem with Catcher is that it is interpreted by many a teenager as a direct instructional tool, while the instruction, if there is any, lies in the irony of the piece. I personally like to read the story, not for instruction, but for the craft of it. The flawless characterization, and the meticulous layering of the text.
