Marcy, are you saing TIF is included in a collection of salinger stories in japan--can you cite your source? curious will ps in reading RHTRBC today, I felt strongly that the best expalnation for seymour loving muriel (aside from her stunning resemblance to charlotte hayhew) may be found on p91 of the bantam edition...the last entry in Seymour's journal says, "How terrible it is when you say I love you and the person on the other end shouts back 'What'?" Muriel loves seymour and that may be enough for one who reads Vedanta texts and understands marriage is service, and that people don't belong to each other but to god.
