I have on my "to do" list the task of taking two days off from work and
spending them at the NYPL up to my elbows in the NYer collection, to see
what Yagoda didn't reveal. By the end of this calendar year I should be
able to manage it.

Those letters are magnificent!
My favorite line about Ross was from Dorothy Parker, who said, of his
pompadour, that she wanted to take her shoes off and walk barefoot in
his hair. He had rather an epic hairstyle.
Thurber's "The Years with Ross" was derided as self-serving, but it
makes a nice portrait of the early days of the magazine. And E.B.
White's Ross obit was (and is) touching. Thurber drew a sad flower to
run with White's obituary in the magazine.
