incident, but doesn't quote from salinger's telegram.
(wolfe mentions it was a telegram.)
thanks, tim, for your alert re the reprinting of
wolfe's pieces; i've never read them.
(enjoyed hearing from le mot juste lane! now that i
think of it, he is one of jds's most believable and
enduring characters.)
