The second of two uncanny coincidences today justified a post to
bananafish. The first was, immediately after writing that post about The
Laughing Man, reading an article in the newspaper about an old lady who's
being kicked out of her rented house for the Olympics - named Mary Hudson.
That coincidence didn't warrant an entire post. However, the following did.
Idly perusing my copy of `9 Stories' in the bath (where all great
literature, ultimately, has been read) I came across the following on the
back of the dust jacket:

`Some reviews of J.D. Salinger's `The Catcher in the Rye':

`The novel about adolescence to end all: here the potential tragedy is
given an enchanting comic sheath'
	- Elizabeth Bowden (Observer)'

So there you go, Scottie. I do know two things about Elizabeth Bowden: 1)
She liked The Catcher in the Rye and 2) She worked for the Observer. So
there. (:

(P.S. Just re-read `A Perfect Day for Bananafish' today. Banana-shaped
fish? Chewing candles? Uhhh ... paging Dr Freud! (: )
