>however, I think being pushed >into reading authors you don't like is a good thing. I think lit mixes >loving and criticizing...ingesting a good variety of books helps make >your reading skills develop more variety. I don't know if it came out wrong in my last message but, I like my Contemporary Lit. class and what we read. The teacher I have, however, seems discredit and devalue a lot of the ideas I bring up in her class because I like Salinger yet not all of Vonnegut. She herself liked Salinger as a teenager and even bragged about owning a first edition "Catcher", but when I criticized Vonnegut, she didn't seem too pleased and an almost like "how could you?" look came over her face. The class, as a whole, is great. Also in my Lit. class I think I've found a true "section man". He's a real piece of work. >. This list has a lot of >readers who love Salinger ....., but my love would mean less if it wasn't >based on a >reading life that dips into many worlds by many authors. I couldn't agree more. -Carl > ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
