Zooey is my favorite Salinger character. He, if anyone, understands that all
this yammering on about Zen is a perfect pile of shit. If Seymour is the
family's Christ, Zooey is the resident heretic. He has all the irresistable
charm, the pointed wit, the blessed sarcasm of a genuine Manhattan snob.
He's Salinger at his best.

In fact, I see a little of Zooey in you, Scottie. No wonder you can't stand
him!
