It is -- and it's as hilarious as you describe. (The parents of writers
like Saul Bellow and Philip Roth have better apartments than Jerome's
parents have, because they're out in the world publishing, and Jerome is
not.)
Also, the bit about his trying to get his son's phone number from New
Hampshire information is priceless.
