Who wrote Holden Caulfield?-
"A thought burst in my head and I need to tell you
It's news that I for thought
Was it just a dream that happened long ago?
I think I just forgot.
Well it hasn't been the first time, and it sure does drive me mad.
There's a boy who fogs his world and now he's getting lazy
There's no motivation and frustration makes him crazy
He makes a plan to take a stand but always ends up sitting
Someone help him up or he is going to end up quitting
I shuffle through my mind to see if I can find the words I left behind
Was it just a dream that happened long ago?
	Oh well... never mind."

I wrote Holden Caulfield-
"I loved you for the minute when you decided to tell me the truth
I heard you and that night I cried for you
I know that you're alone just like everyone else in the world
Don't tell me that things don't get better 'cause sometimes they do
Sometimes they do and I know they will for you
These days are getting shorter and you're forgetting the things you just
said
I'm hoping that you'll move ahead
I wonder if you'll ever come to realize what I always knew-
I wrote Holden Caulfield and so did you
I wanna know if you wanna give up
I wanna know if you wanna wake up
I wanna know when you'll stop dying for what you've done
Stop crying for what you've done
It's only the past
It's only life
What have you done that's so bad?
It's only life so don't waste time
Why don't you stop crying for what's done-
For what is done?"

Hello everybody. By way of introduction my name is Robbie Taggart. I am
an eighteen-year-old somewhat directionless (somewhat not) non-college
student. I live, incidentally, snuggled comfortably against the Rocky
Mountains in Orem, Utah. This is my first submission to this list, though
I have read with interest your conversations for some days. Upon my
graduation from High School I received as a gift from a great friend a
copy of The Catcher In The Rye. Holden Caulfield quickly became a
personal hero of mine, as did his creator. I have since read anything
published by Salinger that I could get my hands on, namely Franny and
Zooey, Nine Stories, and most recently Raise High The Roofbeam,
Carpenters and Seymour:an introduction. I read each of these with growing
pleasure and I can now assure you that I can truthfully claim my favorite
author as none other that Jerome David Salinger. I have heard of other
less-published Salinger stories and, not wanting to break the code I
swore to when signing onto this list, was wondering if any of you out
there have any idea where I might come across any of these. I look
forward to your messages.
	Smiling At The Ceiling, RJT

"I try, I try, like a catcher in the rye but my arms are not big enough
to catch you when you're falling.
No communication. We're falling away. Is it self-preservation or reality?
I try, I try, like a catcher in the rye but I can't stop either one of us
from destroying ourselves. Do you hear that? The sun will rise for you.
Do you feel it? The sun is rising for you. Do you feel it? A blood red
sun warming you. Do you? Do you feel it? A beautiful sun is watching
over you. Do you?" -screeching weasel 1999
