I know you guys tend to hate that Cliff Note kinda crap (I find them
sometimes insightful, sometimes plain annoying or misleading - but the
insights are worth it), but a friend sent me the URL to an online notes
site:

http://www.thespark.com/sparknotes/

Scrolling down I found, amongst others, 1984, Crime and Punishment, The
Great Gatsby ... and yes, The Catcher in the Rye. There's also a message
board for each book - not a very full one yet, as the site has only just
opened. The utterings of an anonymous poster amused me: `I was expecting
this book to be great (maybe because all of my friends loved it), but i was
disappointed. All he did was complain and complain.'

So what are you doing now little darling??? (:

The notes (apparently written by ex-Harvard students) are OK, no big
revelations but quite neat summaries. One thing though - the insistence
throughout that Holden has had or is having a nervous breakdown. Now -
isn't that a lot more of a logical conclusion than all that schizophrenia
crap? Out of all the psychological interpretations that's the best one so
far I think.
