A mighty thanks to the warm welcome from you dear people.  I signed
off back in March so I could cram for PhD exams till June, and I spent
the rest of the summer at the Bodleian, working on my prospectus.  

Actually, I spent the rest of the summer drinking pints at the Eagle
and Child, just up the street from the Bodleian.  Anyway, thanks again
for the welcome.  It's wonderful to see you're all still here...
