JD Salinger and Kurt Cobain

This may have already reached the list and if so I apologize for reviving the
dead horse and then kicking back into unconsciousness once again.
I came upon this article and saw that the author off-handedly remarks that JD
Salinger was the Kurt Cobain of previous generations when authors were rock
stars. I thought this war rather interesting. I have never before made the
link but now see a definite comparison. Kurt Cobain to many was a voice who
spoke of depression, suicide, and superficiality and who strove in his own
life to not be so. He did not always succeed, after all how can one be a main
stream artist and not make some concessions along the way.
JD talked about a lot of the same things. Seeymour killed himself, Buddy
might be on the verge of doing so and Cobain did the same. Generations of
young people were both drawn to JD and Cobain and still are.

I don't necessarily agree with everything the author has to say, but its an
interesting read about this guy's theory about the future of the music
industry and the demise of rock stardom.
