My favourite would have to be _The Diary of Jerome
David Salinger_, in which Jerry talks about his lousy
childhood, lousier adolescence and adulthood, the
advent of early senility, including graphic details of his
sex-life, right up to the geriatric years, and of course
with complete text of all the letters he's ever written and
    received.

A full _word by word_ explanation and annotation of all his
released text including a self-interview is one of the many
attractions or, as some may point out, distractions.

Since it runs into many trillion words, arrangements are on
with the Gutenburg Archives (as he confessed in a special
interview to Oprah, who's been persuaded to include it in her
book club) to only release it electronically. The author is
currently on a book-launch tour, accompanied by his 18 year
old wife who was seen nervously clutching on to a copy of
    "Vedanta for dummies".

Roger Lathbury of Orchises was unavailable for comment,
though the New Yorker has confirmed suspending all activities
and that they are planning to exclusively devote their next 12
issues to publish what they consider are the juiciest extracts.
Laundry and grocery lists of the first 10 years of seclusion are
said to be earmarked for the first issue, the guest editor for which
will be Ian Hamilton, who's been hand-picked by the author.

"We are so excited!" the two averred, as they posed smilingly
for the camera and went off to subscribe to the Bananafish
    mailing list.
