I don't like Alsen's thesis. It's masturbatory to make "Franny" and then
"Zooey" out to be about Buddy. When Buddy jerked off in print, he drew
attention to it and begged forgiveness. I think the stories are about
Franny, and about Zooey, and only by remote extension about Buddy (as he was
part of the same family).
