Matt, I agree and enjoyed your post--no prob with being an "academic
lifer" except at the moment I'm worried about not being able to get a good
gig in CT and may need to return to Colorado...

I think if you do stay with professoring you will find your place--you've
got a fine mind, imaginative teaching strategies, and hopefully the field
of education will improve enough to realize people like you are essential!
