Dear Matthew,
I'm afraid I cannot remember reading the New Yorker back in the 1940s
and 1950s, but I have a healthy respect for someone who has. Welcome to
our list. I promise to be nice. At least until I know you better.

Ha. Me too, and I'm hoping we can avoid a Hemingway debacle. However,
I'm in no hurry for the old man to kick it, as I'm quite fond of his
curmudgeonliness.

Ah, indeed. Hardcover, with the same font that is used on the plain
covers of Franny and Zooey and the rest. I shall tuck the books under
my elbow and smell the pages and smile. Oh, and read them a bit, too.

The real story of Seymour's suicide? The descent of the rest of the
Glass children into American consumer hell? The possibilities are
endless, I'm sure. I just hope that the stories don't get destroyed. I
wouldn't think so, but you never know. I could almost see him doing it,
just to prove to his detractors that he didn't want attention, only
privacy.
Or something like that.
Regards,
Cecilia.
