Do you honestly think that J.D. himself would get his panties in such a bunch over this? I hear what you are saying but . . . Salinger didn't even want anyone writing about him much less as him. And don't get me wrong, I enjoy hearing dissidence (I'll spell check that just in case) as well as irreverence and I even at times enjoy a dry joke but this is about bordering on "phoniness". Salinger is holy, man. I just think it's more important to celebrate the writing and the man in reality, not fantasy. I just think some respect is in order for the man and his privacy. And if this writer is as intelligent and well read as he seems (I mean I've learned some things out I didn't know before his posts) than I think everybody would enjoy him as himself and not as an email alter ego. I mean so many people are more section mannish or too intellectual and not honest ( here I am agreeing with you but this isn't a straight voi\ce either. That's my three cents. Suerte John Paul PS I hope this is not a nasty email.
