although I think michael zabel's "love" strategy regarding chamil is pretty cool, I've got to object to his complaint about our list reeking of intellectual pretention...it may appear that way to folks who look at literature as their private playground where double digit iq's are bliss, but for those of us seeking something beyond ourselves from literature, this list can offer good ideas and resources and it needs all the intellecutal acumen we can manage...maybe that's why chamil ruse is so base...the real salinger would never meet his readers this way--the real salinger is in his work and has made it clear that's where you are going to really "find" him--chamil is playing with us the same base way the NY Post played with its readers when it published Salinger pictures...I suggest that before criticizing anything for intellectual pretention, think about how many good ideas you've contributed yourself...will
